FAA Written

December 21st, 2007

Today I took the FAA Written test for private pilot. I’ve been studying a bunch during the last weeks of school, more so after finals were over and school got out for break.

So, around two or so, Dad and I went up to the Gainesville airport as the Lawrenceville testing center was broken and arranged a test. Took the test in about 45 minutes - few questions I haven’t seen before, but thats what you get on a system that updates a lot. Results get graded on the spot, so I got to know whether I passed or not right after I finished it. Found out I got a 83% on the test (had to get atleast a 70% to pass). Dad and mom were proud.

Only two more “tests” to go - the oral and the check ride. Almost there.

I’m Back

August 4th, 2007

Bleh…who knew a server upgrade could be so fun?

So after recovering the backup of labs/tssoftware from a almost crashed Windows 2000 server (RIP), and installing everything back - I think everything that was here is now back…except for that gallery of mine…which I did not feel like waiting for all that to backup.

Park Concert

June 30th, 2007

Tonight there was a concert at the local park by the Atlanta Symphony orchestra. It started at 7PM and went to 10PM. You’re probably like “eh - classical blah”, but oh no this wasn’t boring.

Jere Flint conducted the orchestra into the following songs:

  • Slavonic Dances: No. 1 in C & No. 8 in G Minor by Dvorak
  • Symphony No 5. in C Minor, Op. 67 by Beethoven
  • Carmen Suite No. 1 by Bizet
  • Girl Crazy Overture by Gershwin
  • Dance Episode from On the Town: Times Square, 1944 by Bernstein
  • Swanee by Gershwin
  • 1812 Overture by Tchaikovsky

It was very, very cool. Just - indescribable. 1812 Overture had chimes and was very loud that it sounded much like fireworks - just awesome.

One thing to do before you die - see a orchestral concert.
